The best of what SIKTC has to offer。 A compelling story with more true horror than ever before; supplied by both monster and human alike。

This was good! I liked the slower pace more than I thought I would—it lets the story lean into its comfortable procedural elements instead of racing toward the next action scene。 The pacing of the first storyline was one of my bigger complaints, since it kept me from actually caring about anyone, so it’s nice to find that I’m already invested in this new cast of characters。 The broader world building is fine, but I can’t say it’s hitting for me the way the way I want it to her。 It feels very rem This was good! 3。5 Stars。 Volume 5 collects issues #21-25 of the comic。 This volume picks up about a year after Archer's Peak。 Erica has gone rogue hunting monsters on her own and the Order of St。 George is taking measures to eliminate the threat she represents。The set up is very similar to the last story arc but there are a couple notable differences。 First, Erica no longer has the resources of the Order to cover her tracks and assist in her hunting。 Second, Erica does not know how to kill this type of monste 3。5 Stars。 Volume 5 collects issues #21-25 of the comic。 This volume picks up about a year after Archer's Peak。 Erica has gone rogue hunting monsters on her own and the Order of St。 George is taking measures to eliminate the threat she represents。The set up is very similar to the last story arc but there are a couple notable differences。 First, Erica no longer has the resources of the Order to cover her tracks and assist in her hunting。 Second, Erica does not know how to kill this type of monster as it's a monster that would normally be hunted by White Masks in a pack。This was the first volume where I really felt the pacing was off。 At the end of this volume the storyline in Tribulation hasn't progressed much past the introductions to the new characters。 Most of the time in Tribulation is spent with Gabi, the kid who survived。 Gabi should be sympathetic as she has lost her whole family but THIS KID IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST。 I suspect she's supposed to be similar to what Erica was like as a kid。 She seems to be a prime candidate to be recruited into the Order but man, couldn't James Tynion give us something to like about her?Meanwhile, the Order of St。 George is losing patience and they decide to call in another Black Mask from the House of Cutter in England to take out Erica。 Cutter is the opposite of Erica。 She does not value human life or have any qualms about taking it。 She is a barely reigned in predator at the Order's disposal and she's coming for Erica。 Cutter borders on being a cartoonish villain at times but she is sufficiently menacing。Final thoughts? This volume retreaded a lot of what was done better in Volumes 1-3 but there was still enough good here for me to recommend this and to want to know what happens next。 。。。more

Very solid set up for the next big arc of SIKTC。 Erica is on the run, still doing her best to hunt monsters while the house of slaughter, and now the wider order of Saint George is after her, and boy do things go poorly for everyone involved。We have a new small town where kids are dying, Tribulation New Mexico, and this of course means a new cast of characters to add on to our regulars。 We have Gabi who is a little fuck, though also just went through some pretty traumatic shit which can excuse h Very solid set up for the next big arc of SIKTC。 Erica is on the run, still doing her best to hunt monsters while the house of slaughter, and now the wider order of Saint George is after her, and boy do things go poorly for everyone involved。We have a new small town where kids are dying, Tribulation New Mexico, and this of course means a new cast of characters to add on to our regulars。 We have Gabi who is a little fuck, though also just went through some pretty traumatic shit which can excuse her outbursts。 Riqui who was in love with Gabi’s aunt and is exhausted having to take care of this little shit while also working and getting harassed at her bar, and carter, the local sheriff who really needs some sort of break。 But it’s not just townies, no we have a new member of the order of Saint George, Cutter, who is a sadistic British woman that might be even more dangerous than the monster’s Erica hunts。And let’s talk about monsters real quick because after much time, the main series has moved on from Obscuratypes, and we’ve seen our first Duplicitype。 And god do I prefer this。 Shadow besties are cool and all but fucked up body horror guys are my jam。 More please。 This and house of slaughter scarlet have me eating when it comes to monster design。If I had to put my finger on the one thing that’s best about this volume I’d say it’s probably how much more personal it makes it about Erica。 The first arc she was directly involved, but it was by no means about her。 The flashback was in the past, so mostly just sets up stakes for the now, but this one throw Erica right into the emotional danger。 And of course still physical。 Erica is not allowed to go without pain。 。。。more

This particular volume is quieter and tighter。 It focuses on two storylines and hones in on a few characters。 There is some story pruning going on here; probably due to branching the story into another title。 The baddie is compelling and the hired assassin line feels a bit stale。 Let's give it time to breathe。 The monster feels like a McGuffin but who knows。 I do like the main character and that is what is keeping me going at this time。 I am rooting for her。 This particular volume is quieter and tighter。 It focuses on two storylines and hones in on a few characters。 There is some story pruning going on here; probably due to branching the story into another title。 The baddie is compelling and the hired assassin line feels a bit stale。 Let's give it time to breathe。 The monster feels like a McGuffin but who knows。 I do like the main character and that is what is keeping me going at this time。 I am rooting for her。 。。。more

Erica returns to monster hunting。 Now that we know her backstory, we might even like her more as a character。 She’s all on her own now, having severed ties with The House of Slaughter。 But her former slaughterers are not so quick to forgive and forget。 In fact, the opposite。So now she’s gotta watch out for monsters of all kinds coming to get her。Entertaining quick read。 Much on par with the rest of the series quality wise。 Nothing is drawn as awesomely as the monsters。

My Rating: 5/5This is my favourite volume so far in this story。 I think that the change of setting and the change of characters helped me delve back into the series。 I love that we are getting an expansion on what the Order of St。 George looks like。 How far they are willing to go and how many connections they have。 The cliff hanger was what I didn't know I needed。 Can't wait to read the next volume! Thanks for reading,Sidny My Rating: 5/5This is my favourite volume so far in this story。 I think that the change of setting and the change of characters helped me delve back into the series。 I love that we are getting an expansion on what the Order of St。 George looks like。 How far they are willing to go and how many connections they have。 The cliff hanger was what I didn't know I needed。 Can't wait to read the next volume! Thanks for reading,Sidny 。。。more

After a long break, it was cool to return to this series。 A year after the end of vol 4, we rejoin Erica, who continues her mission as a rogue operative。 Of course, this doesn't sit well with House Slaughter, and a psychopathic black mask from House Cutter is called in to hunt her down。 After a long break, it was cool to return to this series。 A year after the end of vol 4, we rejoin Erica, who continues her mission as a rogue operative。 Of course, this doesn't sit well with House Slaughter, and a psychopathic black mask from House Cutter is called in to hunt her down。 。。。more
